A milestone, of sorts

One year ago today, at about this time, I was headed to my new (old) hometown of Houston. I remember how tired I was from the move, and still remember how MaryAnn and Robert saved the day(s) for me at the end of the process so all could be done. Honestly, I haven’t looked back at my decision. I was able to survive the summer just fine. Maybe it’s my old bones but the heat was manageable. And I’ve continued to navigate Houston, utilizing their Metro system and Luke and Bianca’s car so I could make my shifts to take care of Solenne. I’ve enjoyed the conference work I have done and will start that up again next weekend. And I’ve voted “blue” in this past week’s election which was so cool. Not all my issues passed, but it felt good to have my vote counted. Being so close to Matthew’s family has been a totally wonderful experience as I’m really taking part in Chloe’s Senior year and will enjoy seeing Logan in a soccer game this weekend, after a quick and cheap 2 hour bus ride (no TSA needed ). Oh yes, I miss big time the Dana clan, and the seasons in NoVA but I’ve found they keep the A/C so cold here that I can still wear all my wool shawls and scarves year round. And then there’s the Mexican food…yes, we do have Taco Stands on every corner, praise god. Re-patriating Texas was a very good decision for me. Blessed be.
